The National Dog Show Presented by Purina® into Include Two New Breeds

The National Dog Show introduced by Purina® will broadcast on NBC that Thanksgiving, November 22nd, at noon in most time zones later Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. The National Dog Show will be hosted by award-winning TV personality, writer, and Broadway celebrity, John O’Hurley.



Returning to provide expert evaluation is American Kennel Club-accredited estimate David Frei, who has officiated in dog shows globally and, together with O’Hurley, has co-hosted the contest since its inception at 2002. NBC Sports correspondent Mary Carillo will report from within the show ring, and also prior U.S. Olympic figure skaters Tara Lipinski and Johnny Weir will provide behind-the-scenes accessibility as digital subscribers.


This year, two brand new American Kennel Club sanctioned breeds will be included in the contest. The Nederlandse Kooikerhondje in the athletic team and also the Grand Basset Griffon Vendéen in the hound group, bringing the total accepted number of strains to 192. The Nederlandse Kooikerhondje roots are available as early as the 1500s. In that the 1600therefore this dog has been trained to operate with duck decoys. The hunter could instruct his dog to lure ducks into a snare. This breed did not make its way into the US before 1999, once the first recorded mess was created here. The Grand Basset Griffon Vendéen is a French scent-hound which has gone through over 400 years of development to get where it is at now. Tthat he Club du Griffon Vendéen which was set in 1907 recognized two forms of this Basset Griffon Vendéen, The Grand Basset Griffon Vendéen along with also the Petit Basset Griffon Vendéen.  By that the 1950therefore, the Grand was split into its standard and regarded as a different breed. The Best at Show winner this past season was a Brussels Griffon termed Newton.  Newton impressed the judges with his exceptional condition and shape, beautiful jacket and loving character.






In party of Thanksgiving along with also the National Dog Show, Purina is encouraging pet owners throughout the country to share the reason why they are grateful for their furry friend. From Nov. 9-25, for each exceptional article shared Facebook, Twitter or Instagram which contains @Purina and Number DogThanking, Purina will contribute $1 (up to $25,000) to Tony LaRussa’s Animal Rescue Foundation Pets and Vets program. This excellent program helps couple shield pets with veterans dealing with PTSD, traumatic brain injuries, stress and other service-related challenges as they transition back into civilian life following their service.
