How to load a text file with Flash CS3

Hello,

I am trying to load text from a .txt file. I don't need to write to it, so I don't need PHP. I tried the second set of code, no errors came through, but I don't see how to display text. When I try to set variable settings in Flash I am told "You must target Actionscript 1.0-2.0".

I had this working in previous versions of Flash, but in CS3, they seemed to have changed things.
