Call me a nerd but I always get pretty excited when I get a new technical book even more if it is about css. So it is with great pleasure that I received a copy to review of Friendsof 'Getting started with css' by David Powers and published by Apress.com.
With a basic knowledge of html, Getting started with css gently takes into the wonderful world of css, starting by the story which brought us till here, its use, its utility, its properties and how to apply them to your html structure.
Getting started with css will build your knowledge of css from simply styling text&link to the creation of styles for printing.
Using easy to follow example (with starting files to download freely), you will learn the basic of creating web pages in style and for those of you used to structure your web pages with tables and html attributes, you will soon discover their unusefulness and their css equivalent.
I particularly like this css guide as it also takes into consideration the difference of interpretation with older browser (included the not so famous Internet Explorer 6), how to avoid common beginner's mistake, pushing once in a while out of the basic to demonstrate the power of css and introducing the new css3 properties.
As you are following it, you will find interesting notes such as 'ExplainEd' to clear out any doubt you could have as you read the chapter, 'AdvancEd' which gives you hint on the argument on a more advanced level and 'LinkEd' with some useful online resources to deepen your knowledge.
