Hello Flep, I was wondering if you can help me with the news scroller. I inserted in my Dreamweaver page but no luck. I am very new to DW CS3 in fact it is my first time using it. I did however insert swf files before and they worked but not this one. It looks fine but it does seem to be reading the xml file. I have them both in the same folder too. Do you have an idea as to what I am doing wrong?

    Re: News Scroller

    Hi all.

Can this news scroller be used to pull in an RSS feed?

for example, how would i make it read the "title" and "link" tags in an xml like below:

    channel
    item
    title
    link
    /item
    /channel

please help, been playing with it for quite some time and having no luck.

    Thanks in advanced

    Re: News Scroller

This scroller is awesome, thanks much Flep.

I do have one issue and I'm sure it's really simple, but I can't figure it out LOL. I'll also let you all know I'm really shaky on actionscript in general but I'm getting better.

The news scroller works flawlessly on it's own, however when I have it loaded into another swf, only the background graphic shows up and the data pulled from the xml file is not displayed. Anyone have any ideas what I'm forgetting to do?

Again thanks for this scroller, it's really cool.

    Re: News Scroller

No worries, I figured it out!

While looking for a solution on this site I ran into your "How to load an external SWF with more Document Class". I used the Event.ADDED_TO_STAGE into the constructor function of the document class of the external swf. It works perfectly.

    Re: News Scroller

I am also having the same problem with the [object object] coming back as my url. It doesn't seem to matter what I place as the url in the XML file because it always comes back with my domain / [Object object]. In fact, if I actually wipe out the url portion of each line in the XML file, it still does the same thing. Thoughts?

    Thanks,
    Winston

    Re: News Scroller

Flep, The scroller is great! I am having a small problem with it though. I have a button directly under the the scroller movieclip. When the text from the xml file scrolls to the center I cannot click on the button. When the text scrolls out I am again able to click or double click on the button to perform an action. Its almost like the eventlistener for the mouse event Click and DoubleClick are disabled when the text in the scroller is visible. Any thoughts?

    Thanks
