parent scale vs child scale

I ran into some trouble when working with Sprite and MC scaleX and scaleY properties. One thing that was not clear to me was what happens to the internal scale of an object when it's added as a child of another object that's also been scaled.

It turns out that the child objects are always visually scaled to the scale of the parent object, HOWEVER, their internal scaleX and scaleY remain the same.


I've included a flash cs3 fla to demo this behavior. Hope this helps someone.

It's the same of coordinates x and y.
I mean, when you attach a MovieClip into another, let's say the parent has x=100 and y=100. The child has x and y =0 but it is at 100,100 cause of the parent.
The same happens with scaleX and scaleY.
