Flash CS3 ActionScripting? Image Swap/Hover/Click

Alright I am very very new to flash and last time I even remotely tempted to use flash it was in the pre MX versions. So that said I have no idea what I am looking for per say. So I couldnt even look for a tutorial on the concept if I wanted.. So here is what I want to do other then learn flash all together (thats aside from the point)...

Concept..
I have 9 images... 1 is a base image for the inital load, the other eight are for the use of the image swaping Now mind you there just may be an easier way to do this with flash but when orginally thought of I was thinking of going with java but theres issues with it.. so again anyway..

9 Images 1 as a base. When you hover over 1 of 8 regions on the main image. I want it that region to turn a certain shade of blue, As well as I want it to be click able where upon clicking it goes to a predefined URL

Another thing that would be nice, is it being able to call a variable from PHP so it can remain blue once clicked but i dunno.. can anyone help me with this concept? Know of any good tutorials or can you throw me a bone to work with or anything.. Ill take any help right now.
