Anyway, you can also put it into timeline.

Re: buttons

Why, is it better to use the AS file than in the Fla (swf)?

Re: buttons

1 Milion $ question

there are many why... the most popular:
- you have all under control, if something does not run properly you know exactly which class (.as file) has the problem.
- you get more performance
- it's more professional and if you share your code with another developer he can ' translate ' your code easier way.

Anyway, if you feel confortable to write in timeline, you can do it, nothing wrong with it

Re: buttons

hi!

I love the code you have shown us for opening a URL from a button.
What a pain it is to just use a button in CS3 actionscript 3!

oh well.. I tried downloading your zip that explains how to navigate within
a flash file. And it doesn't open properly.

thanks for any help you can give us.

Re: buttons

Thats the code i use to navigate around the timeline seems to work pretty well

Code:
stop();
BUTTONINSTANCE.addEventListener(MouseEvent.MOUSE_DOWN, mouseDownHandler999);
function mouseDownHandler999(event:MouseEvent):void {

gotoAndStop(3);
}
